Reiki Healing
The Japanese word Reiki is made up of 2 characters; Rei and Ki.

Rei is translated as the ‘wisdom and knowledge of all the universe or atmosphere of the divine, in other words the higher intelligence, the wisdom that comes from God or the Source.
Ki is life force energy, which flows through all things.
Reiki healing was developed by Mikao Usui in the early part of the twentieth century.

Mikao Usui, was a learned scholar who immersed himself in the study of Buddhist, Taoist and Christain scriptures. He travelled extensively throughout Japan and finally ended up at a Zen Buddhist monastery on Mount Karama where he sat in meditation and fasted for 21 days. At the end of 21 days, he had an awareness of oneness and energetic connection and had found ‘enlightenment’. On his descent down the mountain, he injured his foot. Instinctively, he put his hand over his foot and discovered that the bleeding stopped and the pain disappeared and he was healed. When he reached the bottom of the mountain, he met a girl who suffered from tooth ache, and he offered to place his hands over the painful area. Once again, the pain disappeared.

It would seem that as well as finding ‘enlightenment’ he had acquired the ability to facility physical healing.

Mikao Usui spent many years healing people and towards the end of his life he founded Usui Reiki Ryoho, the Usui Spiritual Energy Healing Method and this has become widely known around the world as Reiki.

Reiki is based on the concept that Universal Life Force Energy flows through all living things. It is thought that disease, illness and stress are as a result of energy imbalances and blockages in the body. Reiki healing is a gentle and non-invasive treatment which involves the transfer of Universal Life Force Energy from the practitioner to the client by the ‘laying on of hands’ on or over the client to restore balance and remove blockages, thereby facilitating the body's natural ability to heal.
What you may experience from a Reiki treatment:
Feeling warmth or heat from the practitioner's hands.
Seeing colours or light.
Feeling vibrations throughout the body.
Receiving messages or visions.
Deep relaxation.
